The toolholder body has a groove against the tool shank. During the clamping process, the tool shank is first centered, and then the expansion sleeve expands to ensure a secure hold. The high clamping pressure displaces oil, grease, or lubricant residues into the groove, keeping the surfaces dry and reducing tool wear.
